January 2018 - Confused by Dr. Judy Baus

Dear Judy,

Everything is going wrong that can go wrong in my life. I love the Lord with all of my heart, but it seems I am in this pit of darkness in every area of my life. How can that be a witness to others? How do I handle everything crashing down around me? I am confused and fearful. Why this is happening to me?

Dear Confused,

The very first scripture I want to give you to stand on is 2 Timothy 1:7:  For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. When life seems to be crumbling around us, we must combat fear! This says God does not give us this fear, but the devil does. God gives us power which in the Greek is dynamis meaning miraculous ability and a sound mind.  Fear tries to come to us all but we have to know that it is NOT of God. Our God gives us the miraculous ability to get beyond what the devil is doing and stand, understanding His promises are sure and true.

Life is tough at times for us all, but we have to know that we are His children and whether things change now or later, God is for us and wants us to succeed. I do believe we all must take an evaluation of our life now and then, and sometimes He shows us things we need to correct. We must get in and read the Word to know what belongs to us and adjust our life accordingly.

Whatever is happening in my life, to be a good witness, I must show others that I trust and know that God’s Word is sure and true and in time, all things will work for my good. How can I say that? Because the Word says that: Romans 8:28… We know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. When we know this in our heart, then we will live with hope, and others will want to know what our hope is. Then we tell them…. Jesus is my hope and I know He loves me and His promises are mine no matter how things look or feel. This is light dispelling the darkness.

December 2017 - At Odds by Dr. Judy Baus

Dear Judy,

It seems like my husband and I are just not agreeing.  It seems like we can do nothing to please each other.  I must say I am critical and he is also.  Discontentment is just on both of us.  This is just not like us.  Even our walk with the Lord seems to be at odds.  Help me handle this please.

Dear At Odds,

You did not tell me how long you have been married but the principals of overcoming are the same no matter.  How wonderful you both have a walk with the Lord.  With those words used it sounds like you know what that means to have a walk with the Lord.  When we get to expecting too much and looking at faults in one another instead of assets it will be a downhill pull.  You must slow down and put Jesus back in the middle of your marriage and first in your lives.  It sounds like SELF has risen on both of you!

Marriage is not 50 50 giving it is 100 percent and 100 percent giving.  Agape love expects nothing in return.  Stop and look at why you married in the first place.  Circumstances in life tend to take from us and from our marriage if we allow it.  Sad to say the church has as many divorces as the world has.  That should not be.  Our Lord can work in our marriage if we will ask Him to help us.  Just remember He will change both of you individually.

The most important thing to remember it is the devils job to kill your marriage. Steal the joy from your marriage.  John 10:10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.  The scripture also says in Ephesians 6:12   For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.  Notice both of these show us that it is not our spouse but the devil that is working through them to get to us.   With you writing me I am assuming you want your marriage to work so you are the one who needs to get the battle back to the spiritual where it belongs.  Both of you must put Jesus first then one another with that in order then you can hold hands and pray and know where the attacks are coming from.

Choose to put your will with God’s will who wants your marriage full of trust in Him which will cause it to be full of joy.  Choose to encourage and uplift one another with words that bless not expecting a return.  Bad times do come but standing together with Christ your marriage will make it through.
