Anxious One

Dear Judy, I am single and I have no children. I am not young but not old either. I like my life but I often get caught up in what will happen to me when I cannot take care of myself. I am an only child so who will help me when I cannot help myself? Sometimes I dwell on this question and anxiety takes over, even though I am a Christian!

Dear Anxious One,

Even if you had a husband, children, and siblings, this is no guarantee that any of them would help you. I have seen people who have all of these people in their life and NOT one of them offered to help. And that’s a double hurt for the one needing help.

Praise the Lord for that family member who will be faithful to help, but we can never depend on that. We have the Lord and His Word full of promises for us to stand on. Hebrews 13:5-6 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." So we may boldly say: "The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?"

It is easy to look at someone else’s life and want what they have, but we truly do not know what they have. Things might look so wonderful on the outside but be rotten on the inside. People disappoint us and leave us but our Lord will never do that.

Fear has no place for a Christian because our God is for us and will help and stand close to us at all times. Even when we do not feel Him, He is there right beside us. We cannot go by what we feel but must stand firm on the truth of His word.

The Apostle Paul went through all kinds of tough stuff and yet he pinned Philippians 4:6
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. The word anxious means to take thought of. Paul says quit giving it place in your thought life. Find the promise you need and stand on that promise. God will always provide somehow, somewhere with someone for us.

You are allowing yourself to get caught up in the “what if’s” which probably you will never experience! Why? Because you are a daughter of the King and the King takes care of His children.

Does it matter which Bible version is used? The New International Version is easier to read than the King James Version, but the Amplified Bible gives better descriptions. Thank you!

This is the first month in a New Year and I am sure we all made some declaration for this New Year which wholes new beginnings if we will allow them to be. Instead of giving up I always add something to my walk with the Lord and when I do that it seems to take care of what I should give up or change.
