Dear Discontent,
I hear this same question a lot so I shall tell you as I tell others. Television is meant for those who are shut in and cannot get to a fellowship. When a Christian who is able to drive or take a bus or get a ride sits in front of the television is not getting the corporate anointing our Lord intended for us to get. We need other Christians and they need us!
The governmental ministries are given to us by Jesus Christ! Ephesians 4:11-12 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.
The Lord wants us to be equipped and edified! I have been preaching and teaching for 28 years now and if I am not standing in the pulpit doing that, I am sitting on the pew learning from the one who is preaching and teaching in the pulpit.
It is not about what we like, but what Jesus commands, and He commands us not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together. Hebrews 10:25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you to the exact fellowship to attend.
Remember there are NO perfect fellowships because they are all made up of Christians—i.e. humans! And there is no perfect Christian. We are all being perfected day by day. We need one another. We need accountability also which we are not going to get from the TV. We are supposed to be reading, praying, and being equipped so we can apply to our lives what we are learning.
So bottom line to your question is we need one another and that is not found on TV.
