Questioning One

Dear Judy,

Fear is running rampant these days! I live in a town where church was part of my life and that of many of my friends. So much has changed and so quickly, not only in how the church functions, but in how believers and even I function. Looks to me that fear of this virus has replaced faith and trust in the Lord! Why is this?

Dear Questioning One,

You are asking a very good question… a question all believers should be asking themselves. Yes, fear is very prominent everywhere. It is truly sad when it affects the Church, the Body of Christ which are the believers. Some people say the building is the church, but it is not! It’s just a building until the believers walk into it. It’s true, this virus stuff has brought huge changes in the believers.

Fear or faith? We cannot be in both at the same time. Fear is very real, but it is not of God! 2 Timothy 1:7 says, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” God gives us the power to love and overcome fear with a sound mind that comprehends who God is in all His power and glory.

Born-again believers in Christ have a purpose and a function to fulfill. Heaven is our Home, but until it’s time for us to go there, we are to be bringing others to Jesus. The Apostle Paul said in 2 Corinthians 5:7-8:  For we walk by faith, not by sight. We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. When we understand this verse, fear cannot come on us. Whether we live or die, we are still with Christ!

Luke 18:8 says, “...when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?” This is a thought-provoking scripture that each believer must be ready to answer! Fear or Faith, we cannot have both at the same time, so instead of looking around at what others are doing, let us get ourselves ready to say, Yes, Jesus, I stand in faith until You bring me Home!

Does it matter which Bible version is used? The New International Version is easier to read than the King James Version, but the Amplified Bible gives better descriptions. Thank you!

Dear Judy, I want to first say, Judy, I love the Lord! But I’m having trouble keeping out thoughts of despair as I watch the news every day. The shooting of innocent people coming out of nowhere. How to cope?

This is the first month in a New Year and I am sure we all made some declaration for this New Year which wholes new beginnings if we will allow them to be. Instead of giving up I always add something to my walk with the Lord and when I do that it seems to take care of what I should give up or change.
