Sensitive One

Dear Judy,

As the days draw nearer to the return of the Lord Jesus, I find people more difficult to get along with. Are people truly becoming more selfish and more offensive, or am I being too sensitive? Thanks.

Dear Sensitive One,

We are called to be sensitive to the Spirit of God. He shows us things and declares things to us. Yes, selfishness is huge, maybe becoming more so, not only in worldly people but in believers. Offensive they are also, but we are not to get offended because it solves nothing. A selfish, offensive person is deceived and not walking in the light of Jesus, but in the darkness of his or her worldly self! Most times it’s not even caused by the devil, but by their flesh wanting its own way! The Bible tells us . . .

. . . that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! (2 Timothy 3:1-6)

The Apostle Paul wrote this to Christians! Perilous times means difficult, dangerous, and morally corrupt. This is where we live! Our nation is becoming more ungodly and chaotic by the day. We are not to be like the world. Yes, I do believe Jesus is coming back soon. We do not know when, but we are to be ready and waiting for His return, doing our daily life bringing people into the kingdom of God.

People are watching us. Let’s make sure our character is in line with God’s Word! It is called a personal relationship with Christ. We are each accountable for our own actions, including how we handle selfish and offensive people. Hope that helps.

Does it matter which Bible version is used? The New International Version is easier to read than the King James Version, but the Amplified Bible gives better descriptions. Thank you!

This is the first month in a New Year and I am sure we all made some declaration for this New Year which wholes new beginnings if we will allow them to be. Instead of giving up I always add something to my walk with the Lord and when I do that it seems to take care of what I should give up or change.
