Stay Focused

It is hard for me to wrap my head around the words “2022.” 2021 came and went so fast. We, as Americans, and all the world, had so much to contend with! People ask me what I think the future holds. Well, first, I do not see into the future, but I do know that the Bible is the only truth we can stand on. I also know that only standing on the promises of God will help us through 2022.

One of the greatest Scriptures we can follow is Matthew 6:33-34: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

The word seek means “to search for,” and that is exactly what we must do. No more just thinking about, but doing. Only His kingdom and His righteousness will see us through. Often we get too far into what tomorrow’s problems might be instead of handling today’s.

Every day as we wake up, we should ask the Holy Spirit to guide us through the day. We need to start everyday by believing in the promises and protection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Every day we have a choice ‑ to walk in the thief’s plans or our Lord’s plans. The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I [Jesus] have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. (John 10:10) Satan is called a thief because he will do all he can to keep us from receiving the more abundant life Jesus Christ has for us.

Let’s stay focused and not allow fear to overcome us this year because we know Who we serve. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7) When fear tries to come on us, remember it is not from God! So let’s replace it with one of God’s many promises. Our Lord has given us good and perfect power, love, and a sound mind! This New Year let’s focus on Jesus!

Does it matter which Bible version is used? The New International Version is easier to read than the King James Version, but the Amplified Bible gives better descriptions. Thank you!
