Wilderness

Have you ever thought about the word “wilderness” and what that means for the Christian and the non-Christian? To be a Christian we must believe—which is to trust and have confidence that Jesus Christ died on the cross for the sins of the world and rose again! Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

To confess with our mouth is to say it and believe it! Now we are a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17) and we are to talk like it, act like it, and live like it! As Christians, we are victors, not victims!

The word wilderness in the Bible (our manual for success) refers to dry places! But even in the dry unproductive times in our lives, we STILL have Jesus as our Savior, and we are His children, and He will take care of us.

The Bible is clear and gives us understanding about how God brought the children of Israel out of captivity in Egypt. The Red Sea miraculously parted, and the people walked on dry land, stepping right into the wilderness! I often think, wow Lord, that’s quite a miracle. . . but our Lord knew the Egypt mentality had to come out of them so that faith could arise and they could trust their God!

So, the wilderness taught many of the Israelites to trust God and rely on Him, even in the unfamiliar and dry times. I say many because if you read the events in Deuteronomy, you will see that some complained all the time, and they died in the wilderness!

The Israelites had a promise land that they were heading toward, and we have the same! They had physical land to inherit, but first they had to conquer it. The Lord told them to clear it all out and do not get involved in any of the foreign gods or their worship.

Here are the names of the tribes they had to conquer and their meaning. This looks very similar to the obstacles we face!

Deuteronomy 7:1….6

·     Hittites. Terror or Fear

·     Canaanites. Materialism

·     Girgashites. Dwellers of clay (changes all the time)

·     Amorites. Mountain people (pride)

·     Perizzites. Immorality- not just sexual

·     Hivites. Cave dwellers (deception)

·     Jebusites. Trodden down (depressed)

Take some time and truly look at what they faced coming out of the wilderness to the land of promise. When we trust in Jesus, we come out of the world into the kingdom of God with all its wonderful promises . . .  BUT we too have demonic activity that we must conquer!

Fear is the very first one we must conquer. If we do not and we allow fear to conquer us, we too will die in the wilderness. This would be sad because the Lord has given us everything we need to be more than conquerors.  Romans 8:37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

The non-Christian has no way out of their wilderness. So, if you are not a Christ follower, why not become one NOW!

Well, let me start with the most important thing you bring up. I noticed the word I THINK in your question. Just because you go to church does not mean you are a born-again believer.

I know I am supposed to be joyful this time of the year, but I am not! It all seems so plastic and empty to me, even in the church! Feeling Pretty Empty

Hills on fire

STAY WATCHFUL! I am sure we can all agree, 2025 started off with much tragedy and woe! Terrorist attacks killing many, devastating fires in the LA area, a horrible plane and helicopter collision, and another plane crash two days later! Many families in mourning. Truly, the devil is out to steal, kill, and destroy, and sadly, he’s doing a good job at it. But remember, our Lord is far greater than the devil, and He is ultimately in control.

Christianity 101—Life with God after Salvation We are living in very tough times that are only getting harder. As followers of Jesus, we should be strong in the Lord and full of faith, experiencing the God of the impossible. But are we? Jesus said in Matthew 19:26, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” I believe Jesus is looking at us and our fellowships and asking if we truly believe this. Are we living this Scripture out to a watching world?

We are living in some very dark, wild times. Our manual for success (the Bible) tells us to know the seasons in which we live. We must be alert and watchful and know and understand how our success manual tells us to have success.

To live the Christian life VICTORIOUSLY as God intends, we need to avail ourselves of the resources He provides, and one of those resources is HIS ARMOR! What does it really mean when we hear that we are to “put on the armor of God” every morning? It’s very important that we understand what the Holy Spirit is telling us to do concerning this VERY important subject!
