Blessed in Him

Dear Judy,

I have noticed that the more time I spend in prayer, the better my attitude is, the better my days go, and the less I allow irritations to get to me. Is this normal?

- Blessed in Him!

Dear Blessed in Him,

Yes, that is normal! We live in the world, but we are not of the world when we have Jesus as our Savior and Lord! I tell people that when our vertical looking is based on Christ and Christ alone, then our horizontal looking will be correct. Our vertical looking is straight up to Jesus and His power and promises.

When we start our day praying and reading the Bible which is our manual for success, then our day starts correctly. We have His Word to stand on throughout our day and we have His direction because we sought Him in prayer.

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you (Matthew 6:33). Matthew was talking about how all the worries of life can come upon us; they are very real. Life brings normal needs to survive and relations to handle. But this verse says to seek first (not second!) God and His righteousness. Righteousness is right-wise-ness! When this is done which is our vertical looking up to Jesus, then and only then will all other things come in line.

When we look to Him first, He will give us His peace and joy no matter what comes our way. When we read His Word and pray, it causes our spirit man to increase in our trust and faith in our Lord. It matures the fruit of the Holy Spirit in us which we can then apply to our everyday challenges that many times are people.

Our greatest priority is to seek the Kingdom of God FIRST before all else or anyone else. Then we will want God’s will in our life at all times. This is a choice for all of us. Choose the Kingdom of God first and be led by the Spirit. Choose anything else first and be led by feelings! Victor or Victim? Up to us.

Well, let me start with the most important thing you bring up. I noticed the word I THINK in your question. Just because you go to church does not mean you are a born-again believer.

I know I am supposed to be joyful this time of the year, but I am not! It all seems so plastic and empty to me, even in the church! Feeling Pretty Empty

Have you ever thought about the word “wilderness” and what that means for the Christian and the non-Christian? To be a Christian we must believe—which is to trust and have confidence that Jesus Christ died on the cross for the sins of the world and rose again! Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

STAY WATCHFUL! I am sure we can all agree, 2025 started off with much tragedy and woe! Terrorist attacks killing many, devastating fires in the LA area, a horrible plane and helicopter collision, and another plane crash two days later! Many families in mourning. Truly, the devil is out to steal, kill, and destroy, and sadly, he’s doing a good job at it. But remember, our Lord is far greater than the devil, and He is ultimately in control.

Christianity 101—Life with God after Salvation We are living in very tough times that are only getting harder. As followers of Jesus, we should be strong in the Lord and full of faith, experiencing the God of the impossible. But are we? Jesus said in Matthew 19:26, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” I believe Jesus is looking at us and our fellowships and asking if we truly believe this. Are we living this Scripture out to a watching world?

We are living in some very dark, wild times. Our manual for success (the Bible) tells us to know the seasons in which we live. We must be alert and watchful and know and understand how our success manual tells us to have success.
