Bad Attitude

Dear Judy, I do not like Christmas! It makes me sad because of all the demands put on me during this time. I am expected to be all things to all people and I just do not want to do that anymore! I am tired of all the commercial stuff and putting my Lord in the background. Even in the church! How do I handle my bad attitude?

Dear Bad Attitude,

I am with you on all points of your letter! Sad to say Christmas stuff is coming earlier and earlier. I saw some out even before Halloween and it was not about the birth of Christ but about the man in the red suit! Sad to say, this is what our children are seeing before they see any decorating for the birth of Christ!

It is our choice to get caught in it all or stay out of it all. If we choose to stay out, just learn to say NO! People pleasers do not know how to say no, but God pleasers do! Only I can put limits on my own life and that is my responsibility to do that or else I too get a bad attitude! No person or circumstance can cause my bad attitude; only I can by not doing what the Lord wants but what people want or expect of me.

So this Christmas season choose to not participate in the commercial side; only in the true reason for the season and that is the birth of Jesus! Choose to stay joyful through it all because of all the Lord has done for us. This is truly a most wonderful time for the whole of humanity and pray that their eyes will open to the truth of that fact! May we all use this time to pray that the entire world might see!

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!"

Luke 2:13-14

Well, let me start with the most important thing you bring up. I noticed the word I THINK in your question. Just because you go to church does not mean you are a born-again believer.

I know I am supposed to be joyful this time of the year, but I am not! It all seems so plastic and empty to me, even in the church! Feeling Pretty Empty

Have you ever thought about the word “wilderness” and what that means for the Christian and the non-Christian? To be a Christian we must believe—which is to trust and have confidence that Jesus Christ died on the cross for the sins of the world and rose again! Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

STAY WATCHFUL! I am sure we can all agree, 2025 started off with much tragedy and woe! Terrorist attacks killing many, devastating fires in the LA area, a horrible plane and helicopter collision, and another plane crash two days later! Many families in mourning. Truly, the devil is out to steal, kill, and destroy, and sadly, he’s doing a good job at it. But remember, our Lord is far greater than the devil, and He is ultimately in control.

Christianity 101—Life with God after Salvation We are living in very tough times that are only getting harder. As followers of Jesus, we should be strong in the Lord and full of faith, experiencing the God of the impossible. But are we? Jesus said in Matthew 19:26, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” I believe Jesus is looking at us and our fellowships and asking if we truly believe this. Are we living this Scripture out to a watching world?

We are living in some very dark, wild times. Our manual for success (the Bible) tells us to know the seasons in which we live. We must be alert and watchful and know and understand how our success manual tells us to have success.
