Dear Concerned
One,
I was born and raised in California, and still live in this beautiful state. My husband Vic was raised in Wheatland, Wyoming. There are huge differences between these states that make the homeless population different. One difference is the weather! The weather is milder in California so it’s easier to survive outside.
There are many reasons people are homeless. They do not just wake up one day on the streets. The housing prices and cost of living have sky-rocketed in California. Some of these people have jobs. Some have 2 jobs, but they still cannot afford to buy a house, let alone rent one. Some of them with jobs just live in their cars and take showers at the gym. They have a cover over their heads, but it’s a very, very hard life.
Drugs and alcohol have brought many people down to homelessness. Some are mentally ill with nowhere to go.
Nevertheless, all of these people need HOPE! Vic and I go to the streets taking lunches and warm socks, etc. which helps for a short while, but the main reason we are out there is to tell the people about Jesus and the hope they can have in Him. This is the one thing that can truly change them inside out.
Only an intervention of Jesus Christ into our society can change situations. Shelters, rescue missions, mental help facilities, and lower cost of housing are all good things, but prayer is the greatest thing any Christian can do because prayer moves mountains. So I encourage you to keep praying. Prayer is the highest calling to help all who need help . Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, and He shall hear my voice (Psalm 55:17).@ 2004-2025 Good News Ministries
