A World Upside Down

Our world is upside down. I live in California and wow is our state having a hard time. (Like many of our states, actually!)

Again this year, we are experiencing huge fires that have already burned many thousands of acres. The town of Greenville burned to the ground! And thousands of families in other towns have evacuated, pending fire coming their way. On top of that, people who lost their homes in previous years are suffering devastating flash backs.

Another huge disaster is our lack of water! Entire towns are running out of water because of the drought. Lakes and reservoirs are going dry which means wells are going dry! Just nine miles from where we live, people turned on their faucet and nothing came out! Another state has insects eating their crops. We just came through the Covid stuff, and now another strain is causing havoc.

If you read your Bible at all, you can see these are signs of the times. I think this scripture is for today: Wisdom and knowledge will be the stability of your times, and the strength of salvation; The fear of the LORD is His treasure (Isaiah 33:6). Wisdom and knowledge will stabilize us in these trying times. Fear of the Lord means reverencing the Lord. That is a treasure we will have when we humble ourselves before the Lord and allow Him to show us His wisdom and knowledge at this time. Our salvation is the only strength we will ever have!

The world holds nothing for us. Only know that we are just passing through and heaven is our home if we are followers of Jesus. We still have a lot to do if we call ourselves a Christian. Fear or Faith is a choice, and we cannot be in both at the same time. The Bible is our manual for success, and there will be no success outside the instructions given to us in it. Jesus said in Matthew 26:41: Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. This is a good word for us today. The temptation is to believe all the world says and do what it says! Watching and praying will keep us focused on Christ and Christ alone. Without Christ, NO hope! With Christ, the ONLY hope! Choose today!

Well, let me start with the most important thing you bring up. I noticed the word I THINK in your question. Just because you go to church does not mean you are a born-again believer.

I know I am supposed to be joyful this time of the year, but I am not! It all seems so plastic and empty to me, even in the church! Feeling Pretty Empty

Have you ever thought about the word “wilderness” and what that means for the Christian and the non-Christian? To be a Christian we must believe—which is to trust and have confidence that Jesus Christ died on the cross for the sins of the world and rose again! Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

STAY WATCHFUL! I am sure we can all agree, 2025 started off with much tragedy and woe! Terrorist attacks killing many, devastating fires in the LA area, a horrible plane and helicopter collision, and another plane crash two days later! Many families in mourning. Truly, the devil is out to steal, kill, and destroy, and sadly, he’s doing a good job at it. But remember, our Lord is far greater than the devil, and He is ultimately in control.

Christianity 101—Life with God after Salvation We are living in very tough times that are only getting harder. As followers of Jesus, we should be strong in the Lord and full of faith, experiencing the God of the impossible. But are we? Jesus said in Matthew 19:26, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” I believe Jesus is looking at us and our fellowships and asking if we truly believe this. Are we living this Scripture out to a watching world?

We are living in some very dark, wild times. Our manual for success (the Bible) tells us to know the seasons in which we live. We must be alert and watchful and know and understand how our success manual tells us to have success.
