Concerned Mom

Dear Judy,
My son has been in rebellion for the last several years. Lately, he has begun reading his Bible again and studying with a friend. I am glad this is happening, but I still have concerns. I am trusting that the Word will get IN my son as he studies. I will not stop praying, but am I just kidding myself into thinking all will be well just because he is studying his Bible again? Thanks!

Dear Concerned Mom,
We all have loved ones who need the Lord. You stay very excited to hear that your son is studying the Bible with a friend. For him to do that means he is seeking truth, and when we seek, we shall find. The Bible is the only truth that will rule over rebellion. If he and his friend are studying, then that means they look up the verses and discuss them. Isaiah 55:11 clearly says, So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. I suggest that you stand on this scripture and do not let the devil lie to you that your son will always be a rebel.

You need to get excited and continue to pray for him that he will continue to grow in the Word of the Lord and one day give his heart to Jesus Christ. I too was a rebel before I got saved but I started to read the Bible and my mind got renewed. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God (Romans 12:2). I stopped looking like the rebellious world I lived in, and my mind was transformed into the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I believed the truth when I read how Jesus died on the cross for my sin and rose again and is alive and well. He did that for me, and He did that for your son and for the world! But we must choose to believe!

So keep thanking the Lord for your son’s seeking truth. Psalm 34:10 says, … But those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing. We have promises, so trust, believe, and stand firm that truth will replace rebellion in your son.

Well, let me start with the most important thing you bring up. I noticed the word I THINK in your question. Just because you go to church does not mean you are a born-again believer.

I know I am supposed to be joyful this time of the year, but I am not! It all seems so plastic and empty to me, even in the church! Feeling Pretty Empty

Have you ever thought about the word “wilderness” and what that means for the Christian and the non-Christian? To be a Christian we must believe—which is to trust and have confidence that Jesus Christ died on the cross for the sins of the world and rose again! Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

STAY WATCHFUL! I am sure we can all agree, 2025 started off with much tragedy and woe! Terrorist attacks killing many, devastating fires in the LA area, a horrible plane and helicopter collision, and another plane crash two days later! Many families in mourning. Truly, the devil is out to steal, kill, and destroy, and sadly, he’s doing a good job at it. But remember, our Lord is far greater than the devil, and He is ultimately in control.

Christianity 101—Life with God after Salvation We are living in very tough times that are only getting harder. As followers of Jesus, we should be strong in the Lord and full of faith, experiencing the God of the impossible. But are we? Jesus said in Matthew 19:26, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” I believe Jesus is looking at us and our fellowships and asking if we truly believe this. Are we living this Scripture out to a watching world?

We are living in some very dark, wild times. Our manual for success (the Bible) tells us to know the seasons in which we live. We must be alert and watchful and know and understand how our success manual tells us to have success.
