Joy, Joy, Joy

Joy and more joy is needed in our society today. If we Christians cannot be joyful, how can we tell others they can have joy no matter what is happening around them? We live in very tough times and it is going to get worse, not better (read your bible). The Christian should be joyful through it all because we know to whom we belong, and we are just passing through this life to the next! Joy is a choice!

The world has nothing to offer the child of God! We are not to be friends with the world because then we are an enemy to God.

Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. James 4:4

These are strong words given to us. We need to heed them. Friendship is a fondness for the world system and the things in it. We cannot have it both ways. We are either in the Kingdom of God or the Kingdom of the world. I sure do not want the Lord to be my enemy! That is a very fearful place to be!

To have joy in the world system would only be if the circumstances of life were perfect for us. But things are never just perfect…not for long anyway. We live in a fallen world with fallen things affecting us. Jesus found joy in the things He came to do for all of humanity!

. . . looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2

Jesus shed His blood on the cross and rose again so that we too will rise and live for eternity with Him. He shouted from that cross “It is finished,” meaning He paid the price for us to be free from the bondage of sin. This brings great joy! Our salvation is what we have joy in, not the circumstances going on in our life!

“. . . Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; 'For YAH, the LORD, is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation.'"  Therefore with joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. Isaiah 12:2-3

Well, let me start with the most important thing you bring up. I noticed the word I THINK in your question. Just because you go to church does not mean you are a born-again believer.

I know I am supposed to be joyful this time of the year, but I am not! It all seems so plastic and empty to me, even in the church! Feeling Pretty Empty

Have you ever thought about the word “wilderness” and what that means for the Christian and the non-Christian? To be a Christian we must believe—which is to trust and have confidence that Jesus Christ died on the cross for the sins of the world and rose again! Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

STAY WATCHFUL! I am sure we can all agree, 2025 started off with much tragedy and woe! Terrorist attacks killing many, devastating fires in the LA area, a horrible plane and helicopter collision, and another plane crash two days later! Many families in mourning. Truly, the devil is out to steal, kill, and destroy, and sadly, he’s doing a good job at it. But remember, our Lord is far greater than the devil, and He is ultimately in control.

Christianity 101—Life with God after Salvation We are living in very tough times that are only getting harder. As followers of Jesus, we should be strong in the Lord and full of faith, experiencing the God of the impossible. But are we? Jesus said in Matthew 19:26, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” I believe Jesus is looking at us and our fellowships and asking if we truly believe this. Are we living this Scripture out to a watching world?

We are living in some very dark, wild times. Our manual for success (the Bible) tells us to know the seasons in which we live. We must be alert and watchful and know and understand how our success manual tells us to have success.
